Simply Salvage:
Life After ArtPrize
Clothing Matters is pleased to announce the return of
Simply Salvage (SS10) to our historic Blackport Building
after 3 weeks of ArtPrize. This distinctly creative & thoughtful example of sustainable construction was built on two timbers
over the course of four months, of 90% salvaged materials,
by Brent Ahmicasaube & Tad Caswell.
Simply Salvage 10’ is a livable work of art that offers an opportunity to experience ecological, cultural & historical dimensions of sustainability. It evolved exquisitely in ways that respect nature and
reflect its principles of reuse, energy conservation,
partnership & interdependence.
The little “cottage” delighted ArtPrize visitors of all ages & backgrounds, many returning several times to share its enchantment and brilliance. “I’d like to live here” was probably the most common response, demonstrating this project’s capacity to elicit
universal appeal of a simpler, less consumptive life.
SS10 invites us to consider what we really need and what we really want. It raises the bar of ingenuity, allowing us to see how
aesthetic appeal and function can be created with
resources otherwise lost to landfills every day.
It brings the priceless value of history to life
so we can experience, connect & dream.
We invite you to visit, be touched by its charm, and moved to imagine purposeful action that delivers more value in a world worth preserving.
It’ll deliver a good dose of delight you & yours!
