Q. What are Clothing Matters retail store hours?
A. Our retail store hours are Monday through Friday 10am to 6pm, Saturday 10am to 5pm and Sundays by appointment, but we are here to be available for you so just call ahead and let us know you're on your way! Clothing Matters is also available for private events during the time of your choosing. Email info@clothingmatters.net to schedule.
Q. How do I get to Clothing Matters retail store?
A. See our Find Us page here
Q. Does Clothing Matters have a catalog?
A. Because our retail collection is of such significant size and styles change often, we could not keep a catalog updated. In addition, printed catalogs often require great use of resources and generate excessive amounts of waste.
Q. Do you have more items in Clothing Matters' Retail Store?
A. We have hundreds more items in our store. Our web site represents only a small fraction of the items we offer for every age and occasion.
Q. Do you only carry Hemp clothes?
A. No, we carry a huge variety of sustainable fabrics in addition to hemp such as organic cotton, bamboo, soy, ramie, and tencel.
Q. Can I bring a group of friends/students/coworkers/family to visit your store?
A. Absolutely! We encourage group tours and consider ourselves educators first and foremost. Since we would like to give your small group the attention it deserves we would ask that you call ahead to schedule a tour either during normal store hours or evenings and Sundays for a private shopping experience.
Q. Where are Clothing Matters products made?
A. We invest in the best examples of highest quality, sustainably manufactured apparel wherever we can find them in the world. Many of our lines are domestically made; some are from overseas, including co-operatives and 3rd party certified facilities that exceed Fair Labour Association standards in China, Romania, Tibet, Peru, India and Ecuador. All of our products are responsibly manufactured and each of our manufacturers is committed to providing their employees with living wages and clean, safe work environments. Our products manufactured in China represent manufacturers who are setting standards for eco-friendly and socially equitable practices and policies in a place where highly polluting, unsustainable development is happening at a pace unprecedented in history. We feel our support of sustainable manufacturers overseas is as important as our investment in domestic production, toward establishing a level playing field in a global market place.
Q. How do I care for Clothing Matters products?
A. Our products are low maintenance, and should be part of simplifying your lifestyle. Nearly all of our clothing is machine washable; nothing is "dry clean only". Many of our fabrics will yield to stains while soaking in cold water overnight. Our natural fiber fabric blends are breathable, allowing more use with less washing, and rarely require ironing. Fluff your clothes in the dryer a bit to help wrinkles fall out, or shake them out, hang them up, and see how quickly you put it back on your body! "Erase" any objectionable wrinkles with a damp washcloth on the way out the door! Check the garment tag for specific instructions, but we generally recommend machine wash warm with a low heat dry to conserve energy and prolong the life of your clothing.
